Eligibility Criteria:
For the Indian students, completing their senior secondary examination with 50% is the only eligibility criteria. Indian students who want to pursue MBBS/MD course have to get admission for a pre-medical course first(duration of this course is 14 months), and on completion of the same, they can enroll to the medical degree. This course mainly covers biology, medicinal technology, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy and psychology. After completion of this course, students can enroll to university in Philippines.
Entrance Tests :
Generally there is no entrance exam to join medicinal universities in Philippines. But few universities require students to pass National Medical Admission Test (NMAT) which consists of two parts. Part -I covers Verbal, Reasoning, Quantitive and Part-II covers Physics, Chemistry and Biology. Please note that there is no ranking system in case of NMAT, only passing this test is sufficient to get admission to Philippines colleges.
Procedure for MBBS Admission In Philippines :
Prior to pursuing MBBS / MD courses, students need to have a Bachelor’s degree in pre medical subjects as mentioned in eligibility section. Few medical universities in Philippines also mandate candidates to pass National Medical Assessment Test(NMAT) to enroll to their universities.
If you do not have a passport, apply for it under the Tatkal scheme instead of ordinary scheme. If you file your passport application with complete documents and identity proof, it will be generally issued in 7 days time. Only with a valid passport you can get a letter of invitation after your admission from the medical college after which you can proceed to file for a Philippines Student visa.
Fees Structure:
Students need to pay their fees annually at the beginning of the academic year. Only in the first year, they have to pay in different installments. Apart from fees they also have to pay for their food and accommodation if they stay in university campus hostel. Students are advised to directly remit their admission fees, tuition fees, hostel and boarding fees to the university bank account. Total cost to complete MBBS degree in Philippines would be close to 25 lakhs.
Course Duration:
MD course duration is 5 and half years for +2 candidates with background in science. The first 16 months is dedicated for pre medical course. It focuses on building foundation for a strong education. Subsequent 4 years students study core medicine subjects and perform clinical rotation.
